The Toronto Emergency Operations Centre, Radio Station VA3EOT was activated for the RAC Winter Contest on December 27th 2008 from 08:00 to 19:00 hours as part of the Toronto EmComm on-going training and exercise program (every radio operator is required to participate in at least two exercises annually). 

A total of ten emergency radio operators participated in this exercise in which 71 stations from across Canada and the USA were contacted using HF and VHF frequencies; a location of note was Anchorage Alaska (AL1G). Band conditions on HF were marginal but the event did provide opportunity for EmComm operators to get some hands-on experience on Toronto EOC radio equipment.
